JINA BIMBA PUNARPRATISHTAPANA VIDHI AND BAHUBALI MASTHAKABHISHEKA AT YALEKYATANAHALLI

Yalekyatanahalli (Nelamangala Taluk, Bangalore Rural District), 17 January, 2010: The Jina Bimba Punarpratistapana Vidhi (Jain idol reinstallation rituals) and the 12 Masthakabhisheka at Yalekyatanahalli was held under the guidance of His Holiness Swasti Sri Deveendrakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Humcha Jain Mutt. The Jina Bimba Punarpratistapana Vidhi, a ritual that was performed on the Bahubali idol and the 24 Tirthankara's in the Bahubali temple on the Brahmagiri hillock was the main highlight of the proceedings. The proceedings were held under the guidance of His Holiness Bhattarakhji. Speaking on the occasion Sri Deevendrakeerthiji explained the importance of Jina Bimba Punarpratistapana Vidhi and said that this is similar to a panchakalyana performed to the Jain Tirthankara idols and is in a way a shorter version of the Panchakalyana performed in a single day. In places such as Shravanabelagola, Karkala, Veenor and Moodabidiri where Masthakabhisheka is performed once in 12 years, and the panchakalyana vidhi's are performed to the idols as a part of the Masthakabhisheka proceedings. On the contrary masthakabhisheka to the Bahubali idol at Yalekyatanahalli is performed every year and this year being the 12th year of Masthakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali the Jina Bimba Punarpratishtapana vidhi is conducted.
On the occasion special pooja had been organised at Parshwanatha temple on the Brahmagiri hillock and the two Adinatha temples in the village.
Around 700 to 800 people from Bangalore and Tumkur districts and other places had assembled at Yalekyatanahalli to witness the event. - Jain Heritage Centres News Service
