Bangalore (Karnataka), 19 January 2010: The governor of Karnataka Sri H.R.Bharadhwaj has opined that Cow slaughter can be banned only by strict laws and appropriate constitutional amendemnts in the Indian constitution. He was speaking after inaugurating the 'Vishwa Sadbhavan Sammelana' organised by the Oswal Parishath here at Gnanajyothi auditorium. Ellaborating further on the issue he said that the proposal to ban cow slaughter has been a matter of debate in the media and the communities since independence, however not much progress has been made with this regard due to lack of political will. He called upon the religous leaders to join hands to pressurise the Union Government in this connection for its enforcement. He called upon the society to follow non violence and recalled the contribution of Jainism in this regard. The function was held the holy presence of His Holiness Dr.Vasantha Guruji from Shaktipeetha, Krishnagiri.
