Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), 7 March 2010: Akansha Jain of faculty of science attracted special attention for receiving the prestigious Chancellor's Medal along with BHU Medal for securing highest marks in postgraduate (MA/M Sc) examinations and standing first in departmental examination.
"It's like a dream come true for me and I have no words to describe my feelings," said Akansha while talking to TOI after receiving the two awards at the function. "The credit goes to my teachers and parents who have really worked hard and made sacrifices to help me stand where I am today," she said, voicing her appreciation for the contribution of parents and teachers.
However, she was also quick to add that the medals and awards had brought additional responsibilities to excel in life. "Presently, I am doing research study and my future plans are to develop microbial consortia involving bio control agents like pseudomonas and trichoderma that would help in enhancing plant life," she informed, making her priorities in life clear.
Similarly, Shivi Jain, who received BHU Medal for standing first at MBBS final examination, 2008, said she wanted to become a responsible and caring radiologist in life. "I could have easily chosen gynaecology and obstetrics as field of specialisation like other women doctors but radiology would provide an opportunity to interact with large number of patients, which is what I like the most," she said. - News Courtesy: Times of India
