Champapuri

    History – Champauri is the only place where all the five kalyanas – garbha, janma, diksha, kevalagnana and moksha kalyana of Tirthankar Vasupujya took place. It is said that Bhagawan Adinatha, Bhagwan Parshwanatha, and Bhagawan Mahavira had their monsoon stay at this place. Bhagawan Mahavira had his third and twelfth monsoon stay at this place.

    Many Jain ascetics like Muni Dharmaghosh, Muni Padmarath, Ashok, and Anchal attained salvation at this place. This place is a Siddhakshetra, many ascetics like Anchal, Ashok and Padamrath attained salvation at this place. An ancient temple of Champanala is seen at this place.

    How to Reach – Champapuri is situated at a distance of 6 kilometers near the Bhagalpur railway station. Buses and private vehicle facilities are available to this place.

    Temple Name – Sri Vasupujya Digambar Jain Temple

    Temple Type – Digambar Temple

    Main Deity – Nearly one and half feet high white colored idol of bhagwanan Vasupujya Swami in Padmasana posture.

    Temple History – Many idols are installed in the temples depicting the different Kalyanas of Bhagwan Vasupujya. In the upper part of the temple paintings describing the life of Shripal and Mayana are seen.

    Special Events at the Temple – On the fourteenth day of the bright half of the month of Ashada- the day of Nirvana of Bhagawan Vasupujya special poojas are performed.
