Sawaimadhopur

    History – Sawaimadhopur is also called as Chamatakarji because of miracles associated with the idol of Bhagwan Adinatha. A story says that on the 1st day of dark moon in the month of Bhadrapadin vikram samavat 1889, a Jogi in Aalanapur has a dream about the idol and he found the idol in his field while ploughing. The idol was recognised as that of Bhagwan Adinath and was installed in the present temple. When they tried to shift the idol fro th field, the vehicle could not move and hence the idol was installed here. People believe that one worshipping this idol they can fulfill their desires. In a record it is said that a Naazim named Nasruddin and another person named Safrudin has built Chatri (canopy) and other structures in the  temple as a a mark of their respect on fulfillment of their desires.

    We can find two sanctum sanctorum’s in this temple, in the main sanctoru the idol of Bhagwan Padmaprabha is being installed. It is said to have been installed in Vikram 1546. tot he left of the the main sanctorum, the 30 inches high idol of bhagawan Chandraprabha (installed in vikram1542)and on right, idols of Panchbalyati are installed. on the rear samctorum, the idol of Bhagwan chamatakarji adinath is installed. The idol of Bhagwan Parshwanatha (2 feet high, made  of black stone) was installed on the 13th day of brightmoon of Chait in Vikram 1390 by Bhattarak Kumudkirti Dev of Balatkar gana. The place where the idol of Bhagwan Chamatarkarji was found is a few furlong and a canopy is built here.

    How to Reach – The temple at Sawaimadhopur is situated  at a distance of 5 Kms to the West of railway station. Boarding and lodging facilities are available at Sawaimadhopur.

    Main Deity – Nearly 16 inches high brown colored idol of Bhagawan Padmaprabha in the Padmasana posture.
