Silver idols, valuables stolen from temple

Gurgaon (Haryana), December 5, 2011: Five silver idols and other valuables were stolen from a Jain temple near Bilaspur village on national highway 8, around 30 km from here, police said today. Dharam Chand Shastry, chief patron of the temple, said five idols, three chatars, three kalash and one throne were found missing from the temple. All the items, weighing more than five kg, are made of silver, he said. Thieves broke the gate of the temple in the wee hours of Sunday and made away with the valuables, he said in his complaint. In his complaint, Shastry has suspected the involvement of some workers who had come on the same day for construction works currently going on in the temple. Local SHO Babu Lal said some of the workers have been taken into custody and their questioning is on. – News Courtesy: PTI
