Main Deity- Nearly 4 feet high, Black-colored idol of Bhagawan Parshwanath in the Padmasana posture. 

 

History- The history of Huncha (also called as Hombuja) dates back to arround 8th century A.D.. The history Huncha starts with Jinadatta, the prince of Mathura. He had flee to south India leaving his home city due to family reasons. He meet the Jain monk Muni Siddhanta and according to his guidance he carried the idol of Godess Padmavathi along with him on the horse back and toured the sothern part of India. When he reached Humcha he decided to halt at this place under a Lakki tree. in his dream he got an inspiration to install the idol of Goddess Padmavathi below that tree and he finally decided to build a temple at that place. Even today we can see the miraculous Lakki tree. On the day of the Mula constellation(nakshatra) in the month of March every year the birth day of Padmavatidevi is celebrated. We can find a lake at this place called as the Moti Lake which about 1300 years old. On the top of a hill besides this temple we can find the idol of Bhagawan Parshwanatha in the Kayotsarga posture installed.

     The present Bhattaraka of Huncha  is Sri Sri Sri Devendrakirthi Bhattaraka Swamiji He is one among the few Jain pontiffs who has taken personal interest for the propagation of the Jain religion world wide. Many Jain temples have been constructed outside India under his guidance. The peaceful environment, the five temples with their sculptural treasures, and a library make Humcha an ideal place for study and meditation. 

 

Guidance- The nearest railway station of Arsalu is at a distance of 25 kilometers. It is at adistance of arround 55 Kms from Shimoga the district centre. Boarding and  lodging facilities are available at the Jain muth besides the temple.
