Bomb scare at Bavan Jinalay temple in Bhayandar

Mumbai, November 27, 2011: A shock wave spread across the residents of Bhayandar west on Sunday morning when one unidentified person informed Thane rural police that a live bomb was planted in a famous Jain temple-‘Bavan Jinalay’ on station road and it may explode anytime. However, after the police searched the information turned out to be a rumour.

According to police, the main control room of Thane rural police on Sunday morning received an anonymous call who informed them about the bomb. Sensing the seriousness of the call, bomb detection and disposal squad (BD&DS) of Thane rural was immediately sent to the spot. While the local police immediately cordoned the entire area, the BD&DS squad officials with the help of sniffer dogs and bomb detectors, searched the entire area of the temple but could not find any suspicious object. The squad also searched one more jain temple in the vicinity as a precautionary measure. However, nothing suspicious was found. Finally the information was ruled as rumour.

This is the second time the rumour of bomb being planted in Bavan jinalay temple since last September. On September 22, this year similar information was received at Director General of Police office which later turned out as rumour. – News Courtesy: DNA India
