Jain sadhvi, die in a road accident in Viramgam

    Ahmedabad (Gujarat), May 27, 2012: A Jain sadhvi heading for Ahmedabad from Viramgam early on Sunday morning was run over by a speeding truck near Viramgam.

    A devotee accompanying her died on the spot whereas three other sadhvi got injured in the incident and were rushed to town hospital for treatment. Police have started searching for absconding truck driver.

    According to Viramgam town police officials, as Jineshwari Devi Shreeji, a Jain sadhvi , had started off with three other sadhvi from Viramgam towards Ahmedabad. The group was accompanied by Kunwarji Shah, a local resident, on a bicycle. When they

    were passing near Raiyapur railway crossing at 5.30 am on Sunday, a truck came from the opposite side and hit them.

    “The driver apparently did not see the group in wee hours and directly hit them. While Jineshwari Devi and Shah died on the spot, the three other sadhvi sustained severe injuries and were taken to town hospital for treatment. One of the sadhvi is grievously injured,” said a Viramgam police official.

    Rajendra Shah, a local resident, filed a complaint against absconding truck driver for the accident with police. The devotees said that the group was headed towards a Derasar in Jakhwada on Viramgam-Ahmedabad road. After spending some days there, they were to return to Ahmedabad, said officials. – News Courtesy: Times of India
