Jain Sangh plea for recovery of stolen idol

    Patna (Bihar), December 3, 2015: The Bhojpur unit of Jain Sangh has written to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, expressing satisfaction over his decision to recommend CBI probe into the theft of an ancient idol of Lord Mahavir from a temple at Lachuar in Jamui district last week.

    The incident has shocked members of the Jain community in the state and elsewhere in the country. The community also expressed hope that the idol would be recovered quickly. Sangh president Padmaraj Kumar Jain said the centre and the state government should take all steps for quick recovery of the idol and ensure prosecution of the culprits involved in the crime. not recovered within a reasonable time, we would launch an agitation,” said Jain.

    The community appreciated the efforts of state government that led to the recovery of a stolen idol of 23rd Jain Trithankar Parshvanath from a temple at Masadh village in Bhojpur district. The idol was stolen on October 12, 1993 and recovered on January 10, 1994 after an agitation and support from Jabir Hussain, the then chairman of State Minority Commission. – News Courtesy: Times of India
