JCCO Celebrates Official Opening

    Ohio (USA), August 8, 2012: The Jain Center of Central Ohio celebrated its official opening, or Pratistha Mahotsav, July 20-23, which was considered an auspicious occasion now that the center has its own temple for celebrations and prayers.

    Serving a small but vibrant Jain community, JCOCO was founded in 1991, and since its beginning has focused on building its own temple.

    The structure is a traditional temple with an area of over 7600 sq. ft. The Ghabharo (inner sanctum) will have the presence of Shvetambar pratimajis of Adinath Bhagwan and Parshwanath Bhagwan, and a Digambar pratimaji of Mahavira Bhagwan.

    In the rangmandap are Guru Pundarik Swami and Guru Gautam Swami as well as marble patts of Sammetshikhar Maha Tirth and Shratunjay Maha Tirth along with Navkar Mahamantra and Siddha Chakra patts. Chakreshvari Devi, Sarsvati Devi, Shri Manibhadravira, and Shri Ghantakaranveer reside in the rangmandap.

    There is an upasra where people can perform samayika and meditation, a library, a large multipurpose room and a classroom for adult and children’s religious classes.

    Attending the Pratishtha Mahotsav were such H.H. Charukeerthiji Bhattarakji, Amrender Muniji, Dr. Tarlaben Doshi, Girishbhai and Sushilaben Shah, Nareshbhai and Minaben Shah, Narendrabhai Nandu, Narendrabhai Shah, Ashutosh Vyas, and JAINA president Dr. Sushil Jain and his wife Asha.

    The four-day program featured a colorful procession, various poojas to purify all murtis, and a cultural drama entitled “Munnabhai Mile Chetna Se,” directed and written by Rakesh and Neha Jain that was inspired by the 9th century classic Sanskrit work “Upmiti Bhav Prapanch Katha.” – News Courtesy: IndiaWest.com
