Navaratri & Vijayadashami Utsava at Haduvalli

    Hadavalli (Uttara Kannada District, Karnataka), October 1, 2013: On the occasion of Navarathri & Vijayadashami special poojas and other related religious celebrations have been organised at the ancient Jain Heritage Centre Hadavalli (Sangeetapura) from October 5-14, 2013 in accordance to the Jain tradition that has been followed over the centuries. Special poojas will be organised on all the days of Navaratri.

    On all these days panchamrutha pooja will be performed to Lord Chandranath. All the poojas will be performed from 7.30 am to 2.00 pm on all the days. The poojas will be performed by Sri Jwalini kumar Indra of kaikini basti and  Sri Mahaveer  Indra  have been performing these rituals at Hadavalli since some years.

    About Hadavalli – Hadavalli/Haduvalli is a popular Jain Heritage Centre that flourished as a chief Jain centre during­­ the period from 13th-16th century. It was also called by the name SANGEETAPURA  in the history. It was the second capital of the Saluva Kings for a considerable period. The period of Rani Chennabyradevi (1554-1602 A.D.) is considered to be the golden period in the history of Hadavalli.  Hadavalli is in its ruins now to find only six Jain temples, namely – Sri Chandranath basadi, Sri Parshwanath basadi, Sri  24 Thirthankara basadi that houses the goddes Padmavati  these three temples where regular poojas is performed and managed by Sri Padmavati Jwalamalini and Chandranath swami basti  trust (R.) .  Another Sri Chandraprabha   temple managed by Archeological Survey of India in good condition &  Sri Chandranath  temple situated in Chandragiri and Gunda basadi there is no shrine.

    Location – It is situated at a distance of 145 Kms from its district centre Karwar, 16 Kms from Bhatkal the  taluk centre & 69 Kms from the world famous Jog Falls. The nearest railway station is Bhatkal at a distance of 17 Kms.120 Kms from mangalore.31 Kms from murudeshwar.
