Postal Stamp on Acharya Gyansagarji Relased

    Kishangarh (Rajasthan), September 10, 2013: India Post has released a commemorative postage stamp on the Jain ascetic Acharya Gyan Sagar on 10th Sep 2013. Union Minister Sachin Pilot released the stamp  at Kishangarh 30 Km from Ajmer in Rajasthan. This is the first time ever in the history of India Post that a stamp has been released on a Digambar Jain ascetic.
    About Aacharya Gyansagarji : Aacharya Gyansagarji was born at village Ranoli, Sikar District (Rajasthan) and his childhood name was Bhooramal. He was second of five brothers. After completing primary studies in his village, he further studied Sanskrit and syadwad in Banaras. He was initiated Kshullak Diksha by Acharya Veersagar Ji who belonged to the lineage of Acharya Shantisagar. He was then named Kshullak Gyanbhusan. He remained a Kshullak for 2 years and 2 more years as Ailak before becoming a Muni. He was initiated a monk Diksha by Acharya Shivsagar Ji Maharaj Khaniya ji, Jaipur on 20th June 1959. He was further elevated to the Acharya status in 1968 at Naseerabad, Rajasthan. He had conferred his Aacharya status to his follower Vidhyasagar Maharaj on 22nd Nov. 1972.
