Profile of Acharya 108 Sri Subhalasagarji Maharaj: Acharya Subhalasagarji Mahraj called as Paragowda in his gruhastashram was born in 1916 as the  son of Shiva Gowda Patil and Gandhari at Nandagaon of Belgaum District in Karnataka. He was the eldest amongst the five brothers and one sister. He lost his mother at a very young age and had taken the care and responsibility of his family and looked after it. He married Champavathi of Nandagaon at the age of 18 and had four daughters and one son. 

     His mother tongue was Kannada. He was very much influenced by the religious environment of the house and his father used to narrate the religious stories every night and this had a strong influence on him and compelled him to take the Ajiva Brahmacharya diksha at the age of 40 from Acharya Payasagarji Maharaj. He took the kshullak diksha from Virasagarji Maharaj in 1956, Ailak diksha from Acharya Ratna Deshabhushanji Maharaj at Nandagaon on 29-03-1960. After 2 to 3 months he took the Muni Diksha at the Mangur village from Acharya Ratna Deshabhushan Maharaj on the Jyeshta Shudha Dashami Day. He acquired the Acharyakalp padhavi in 1974 and the Acharya padhavi of Acharya Nemisagarji Maharaj at Bombay in 1979.

     Like this his ascetic life lasted for 48 long years. In this period he visited many Jain pilgrim places all over India and walked for thousands of Kms through the length and breadth of India. He has translated many Jain books in Kannada and authored many original works. He had given Diksha to 54 bhavyatmas and 11 Sadhus have attained samadhi maran under him.

     He under took Niyama Sallekhana on 17-3-1992 at Nandagaon. He toured all over the country and visited all the Jain Siddhakshetras during these 12 years.     

     He renounced the Acharya Padhavi on 22-1-2004 and gave his Padhavi to Muni Sri 108 Devesena Maharaj.

     He consumed 8 cups of water on 13-3-2004 and later on undertook Yama Sallekhan at Shedabala. Thousands of devotees from all over the globe visited Shedabala to have their last darshan of the acharya. He attained Samadhi on         17-3-2004.A total of 140 sadhus and sadhvis were present at the time of his samadhi.
