History- The city of Agra situated on the banks of the river Yamuna has a
very ancient history. It is said that it was the domain of the King Ashoka from
the year 206 to 66 of the vikrama era. It is said that Acharya
Vijayahirsurishvarji built many temples during the reign of the Moughal emperor
Akbar. Akbar though being a Muslim king encouraged other religions also, he
honored Vijayahirvijaysuriji with the title 'Jagatguru' and gifted him with a library.
Even today this can be seen in the 'Upashraya'. The religious works of
Vijayahirsurishvarji is being remembered for centuries. Outside the city of Agra,
there is a large Dadwadi of Acharya Hirvijaysurishrarji.
The idol of Bhagawan Chaintamani Parshwanatha is been made of a precious stone
named yasav. It was installed here in the year 1639 of
the Vikram era. The idol of Bhagwan Sheetalanatha is been installed as the main
diety at the Jain temple in Roshan Mohalla. The Digamabar Jain Bada mandir
of Moti Katra with Bhagawan Shambavanatha is one of the famous temples of Agra.
Besides this, there are twelve Swetamabar temples and some Digambara temples in
the city of Agra.
Guidance- Agra is at a distance of 45 Kms from Mathura. The temple is at a distance of 1 km from the Railway station. The boarding and lodging facilities are available at this place.
