Modhera

    History – It is said that this temple belongs to the times earlier than the ninth century of the Vikram era. While describing this temple, Jinaprabhasurisvarji says that Bappabhattacharyaji used to come from space route to pilgrimage this place. Inscriptions say that a temple of Bhagawan Mahavira was found here. The Jain monks of the Modhera gachchha is said to have originated from this place. Modhera is the birth place of Kalikalasarvajna Hemachandrcharya.  The ancestors of Mahatma Gandhi have originated from this palce. Many Jaina inscriptions and idols were found near this place.

    How to reach – The nearest railway station of Bahucharaji is 13 Kms. Chansama is at a distance of 25 kilometers and Rantej is at a distance of 16 kilometers from this place.

    Main Deity – 18 inches high, white colored idol of Chintamani Parshwanatha in the Padmasana posture.
