Amminabhavi

History – Called as ‘Ammayyana Bhavi’ in the inscriptions, it was ruled by the royal dynasties of Karnataka namely the Rashtrakutas and Kalyana Chalukyas. Amminabhavi flourished as one of the main Jain centers during their period. Furthermore, it was an Agrahara ruled by 400 Mahajanas during the period of Vijayanagara rule. The basadi of lord Neminatha here is regarded as an ancient one. The front elevation of the temple was renovated by the people of the place.

The other idols seen in the temple include that of Sri Adinatha, Sri Parshwanatha, and Sri Vardhamana Mahavira as chamaradharis. Also seen are the sculptors of Goddess Padmavathi Devi and Chouvisa Thirthankaras. Recently a Jain Muth has been started here headed by the pontiff Sri Dharmasena Bhattarakha Swamiji under the guidance of Sri Gunadharanandi Mahraj.
