    History – The Vardhaman Mahavir Basadi at Hongere is said to belong to the Hoysala’s period and was constructed during the 12th century AD.  Along with the idol of Bhagawan Mahavira, we can find the idols of Goddess Padmavathi, choubis and many small metal idols.

    How to Reach – Hongere is a small village situated in the Hassan District. It is at a distance of 18 kms from Hassan and 5 Kms from Shanthigrama. Bus facilities are available to Hongere from both these places. On reaching Shanthigrama, just before entering the village one will have to take a right turn to reach Hongere.

    Nearest Airport – Bengaluru International Airport, at a distance of 210 Kms.

    District Centre – Hassan, at a distance of 18 Kms.

    Main Deity – About 30 inches high black coloured idol of Bhagawan Mahavira in the kayotsarga posture.
