Manchenahalli

History – The idol of Brahmadeva sitting on a horse found here at Sri Kodi Brahmadeva temple is said to have been formed by itself. It is a very unique of its kind and is also one of the biggest statues (around 6 feet) of Brahma Yaksha found in the world. Devotees mainly from Bangalore district visit this place periodically and offer special prayers to Brahmadeva. Along with the idol of Brahmadeva we can find the black idol of Sheetalanatha Bhagawan in the padmasan posture. This idol of Sheetalanatha Bhagawan was installed recently around 1990 when the renovation work of the temple was taken up.

Note to Visitors/Devotees – The visitors have to take the key of the temple from the house of the priest at Gowribidanur.

Brahmagiri – Just adjascent to Sri Kodi Brahmadeva temple is found a small hillock called as Brahmagiri. This has been named so after the Kodi Brahamdeva idol. We can find a temple on the hillock dedicated to Lord Bahubali. This temple was inaugurated on 22th May 2005 by the then chief minister of Karnataka Sri N.Dharamsingh under the holy presence of His Holiness Swasti Sri Bhuvanakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Kanakagiri Jain Mutt and Swasti Sri Dhavalakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Arihantagiri Jain Mutt. The temple has the 18 feet high idol of Lord Bahubali as the main deity. Surrounding the Bahubali idol are installed the 18 inches high idols of all the 24 Tirthankaras in padmasana in a row. Besides this one of the very unique thing to watch out at this temple is a collection of the feet impressions of the 24 Tirthankaras in a single marble piece. This is very unique of its kind and is very rarely found in Jain temples.

Origin of the Name – There is a huge pond found just behind Sri Kodi Brahmadeva Temple. This pond when full overflows crossing over the walls constructed across, this process of over flowing is called as Kodi. Hence the Brahmadeva idol over here is called as Sri Kodi Brahmadeva.

How to Reach – Manchenahalli is situated in the Gowribidanur taluk of Kolar district. It is at a distance of 4 kms from Gowribidanur. The bus facilities are available to this place from Gowribidanur.
