Chandwad

    History – Sri Chandranatha cave is situated towards the East of the village on the hillock. We can find the 30 inches high idol of Bhagawan Parshwanatha, two 4 feet high idols of tirthankaras and the idols of Yaksha and Yakshis are found here. These idols are said to be of 8th century A.D. Apart from this we can find a temple with the idol of Bhagawan Adinatha as the main deity. An inscription in the temple says that this idol was installed in the year 1292 of the Vikrama era on the 12th day of bright moon in the month of Phalguna. Besides these temples, there are 2 Swetambara temples-One dedicated to Bhagwan Chandranatha and other dedicated to Bhagwan Adinatha.

    How to Reach – Chandwad is a village situated in the Nasik district. This village is on Manmad-Mangitungi route and 40 kms from Satana on the way to Mangitungi. The boarding and lodging facilities are available at the Dharamshala in the village.

    Main Deity – About 3 feet 6 inches high black coloured stone idol of Bhagawan Chandraprabha in the padmasana posture.
