Nainagiri – Reshandigiri

    Nainagiri – Reshandigiri is located in the Buxwaha Taluk, Chhatarpur District, Madhya Pradesh.

    Main Deity – Nearly 335 cms. high, almond-colored idol of Tirthankar Parshwanath in padmasana.

    History – The history of Nainagiri – Reshandigiri dates back to the period of Tirthankar Parshwanath. This is the place of Samavasaran of Tirthankar Parshwanath. There is a stone slab in the center of the river near this place called as the Siddhashila. Muni Varadatt is said to have practised penance and attained salvation on this slab.

    The temple is situated on a small hill near the Resandigiri village. This place is also known as Nainagiri. The temple of Bhagawan Parshwanatha remained unseen for centuries. During the end of 19th century this temple was found by the land excavations on the hill based on the dream of a Jain Shravak.

    A fair is held here every year from the eleventh day to the fifteenth day of the bright half of the month of Magasar. Besides this, there are 35 temples on the hill and there are fifteen temples at the foot of the hill. As in Pavapuri, there is a Jalmandir at the middle of the river. The idols of Muni Indradatt Vardatt, Gundatt and Sagardsatt, sitting in the samvasaran are seen in this temple.

    The Parshvanath temple (Chauvisi Mandir) is the largest temple with a 16 foot tall idol of Lord Parshvanath of 1953 AD, along with images of the 24 tirthankaras and the images of the five munis who attained moksha here.

    How to Reach – The nearest railway station of Sagar is at a distance of 56 kilometers, Dalpatpur the nearest village is at a distance of 13 kilometers from Nainagiri – Reshandigiri, Banda Velai is about 25 kms, Boarding and lodging facilities are available at foot of the hill.
