Thuvanji

    History – On the basis of many ruins found here, it can be inferred that in the past this was a place with many Jain temples. There is an inscription telling that Sheth Panashah had built a temple at this place in the twelfth century. The idol is of Bhagwan Adinath is said to be very miraculous. The other idols found at this place include the idols of Bhagwan Parshwanatha (13feet 4 inches); Bhagwan Parshwanath( 12 feet 6 inches); and idols of Bhagwan Shantinath; Bhagwan Adinatha, Bhagwan Ajitanatha; Bhagwan Abhinandannath are very attractive. The pinnacles of these temples were built here after installation of the idols. It is said that even now at the midnight in the months of Falguna, Ashadha, Shravana and Bhadrapada, sweet devotional songs sung by gods in the temple, are heard. In addition to this there are twenty four temples at this place.

    How to Reach – The temple is situated on the hills and in the forest near the Thuvan village on the bank of the river Lilat. One should reach ashoknagar from Guna(45Kms) and from Ashoknagar to Thuvon via Piprol, The way from Piprol is Kuchcha road for about 8 Kms. The boarding and lodging facilities are available in the Dharamshala.

    Main Deity – About 36 feet 8 inches high, light blue colored idol of Bhagawan Adinatha in the Padmasana posture.
