Colavandipuram

History – Colavandipuram is a another tenth century Jain center where the interior of a cave shelter accommodates beautiful sculptures of Gommatesvara, Parshwanatha, and Ambika. The cave shelter was modelled in the form of a shrine by a Ganga chieftain. It was to this shrine that Siddhavadavan, the Malayaman vassal of Gandaraditya, granted the village Panaippadi in 952 A.D. The grant was to be used for the conduct of worship to the images.
