Valathi Malai Jain Cave

    Valathi Malai Jain cave is a smooth and naturally formed one. We can find a bas relief carving of Tirthankar Parshwanath in Kayotsarga – standing posture is carved abut 3 feet above the ground level. The carving is about 4 feet high adn 2 feet wide.
    A platform with steps was constructed in front of the Parshwanath idol to do pooja and Abhisheka. The Valathi Malai Jain cave’s flooring was done on 22nd April 2004. As per the inscriptional sources the carving of Parshwanath Tirthankar’s bas-relief is about 1925 years old and was used by the Digambar Jain Munis. It is also said that a Jain school had also been operational in 7th & 8th century A.D.

    Location – Valathi Malai Jain cave is at a distance of about 500 meters from the Valathi/Valathy and Sri Adinath Digambar Jain temple at Valathi.
