Sonda Bhattarakha’s Pattabhisheka on Feb 13, 2013

    Sonda/Swadi (Karwar District, Karnataka), February 6, 2013: The Pattabhisheka mahotsava of the new Bhattarakha of Sonda to the Aklanka Peetha will be held on February 13, 2013.

    Detailed Programme Schedule

    Monday February 11, 2013
    Pura Pravesha –
    The Pattabhisheka will begin with the Purapravesha of Vichara Patta Kshulakha Sri Manikya Keerthiji Swamiji the Bhattarakha designate on Monday February 11, 2013 at 1.00 pm. It will be followed by Devdarshan, Navakalasha Abhisheka, 24 Tirthankara Aradhana, Dasha Dikpalaka Pooja, Kshetrapala Pooja and Mahamangalarati.

    Tuesday February 12, 2013
    On Tuesday February 12, 2013 from morning 6.00 am onwards Abhisheka to Lord Neminath with NavaKalasha & Ganadharavalaya Yantra Aradhana at Sri Matada Basadi will be conducted. In the noon from 1.00 pm the flowers will be offered to the Nishadhi’s of former Bhattarakha’s. Later in the evening from 6.00 pm onwards Shatashtanamavali Kumkuma Archana, Shodasha Upachara Pooja will be offered to Goddess Kushmandini devi. This will be followed by Mahamangalaarathi.

    Wednesday February 13, 2013
    4.00 am –
    On Wednesday February 13, 2013 the rituals will begin from early morning 4.00 am through Suprabatha. It will include Holy Bathing of Sri Manikyakeerthiji,
    Jina Mandira Darshana, Pattabandha, Mangala Kalasha Sthapana, Japa, Dhyana & Sakalikarana.
    5.00 am – From morning 5.00 am Navakalasha Abhisheka to Lord Neminath,
    Chanting of Mahashanthi Mantra, Shanthidhara will be performed. Special Abhisheka Pooja will be conducted in all the Temples at Sonda & pooja to Goddess Kushmandini followed by Mahamangalarathi along with Shodashopachara.
    11.00 am – From morning 11.00 am onwards as a part of the Pattabhisheka rituals Purvakriyas & Simhasana Pooja will be performed.
    11.59 am to 12.37 pm – Pattabhisheka Mahotsava – From Morning 11.59 am to 12.37 pm in the auspicious Vrushaba Lagna Pattabhisheka Mahotsava rituals prior to
    Simhasnarohana. Offering of the holy finger ring, Pinchi inherited by tradition, Shikha Moharu, Pooja of Padhuka followed by Padapooja of Sri Bhattarakhji. This will be followed by Prashasti Vachana, offering of Bhakti Gifts, dharmopadesha & Ashirvada.
    3.00 pm – From 3.00 pm onwards social gathering will be organised followed by wishes from dignitaries.

    5.00 pm – From 5.00 pm onwards Pallakki utsava of the new Bhattarakhji. Ashirvada programme, offering of blessings through Sriphala & Mantra Akshate to the devotees by the new Bhattarakhji will be conducted.

    Bhattarakha Tradition at Sonda – The Bhattarakha tradition of Sonda has a 1900 years history & dates back to the 2nd century A.D. when Acharya Sri Aklanka established the Bhattarakha seat & called it as Sri Swadi Digambar Jain Mutt. This place was also called as Sudhapura in the past. Since then the Digambar Jain Bhattarakha tradition is existent.

    Sad Demise of the previous Bhattarakha – It can be recalled here that the previous Bhattarakha of Sonda had attained samadhi on September 21, 2012.

    Choosing of new Bhattarakha – Later on a committee headed by His Holiness Swasti Sri Devendrakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of Humcha Jain Mutt was constituted to search the new incumbent to the seat. The team choosen Sri Manikya Swamy to be the new bhattarakha of the seat. Later on  Sri Manikya Swamy was given the Vichara Patta Kshullakha by His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt at a diksha programme on January 16th, 2013 at Shravanabelagola. Since then he has been renamed as Sri Manikya Keerthi Swamiji.

    Profile of Sri Manikswamy Sumathinath Halli – Sri Manikya Swamy aged around 29 years hails from the Akkialur village of Hangal taluk in Haveri district in the state of Karnataka. He comes from a religious background family, his parents are Late Sumathinath G Halli & Smt Sushila Sumathihalli. Late Muni 108 Sri Shambhavanandiji Maharaj happens to be his uncle. Sri Manikya Swamy completed his primary education at Akki Aluru & secondary education at Sri Bhujabali Brhamacharya Ashram, Karkala. Later he completed his high school at Sri Gommateshwara Vidyapeetha Brahmacharya Ashrama, Shravanabelagola. He has completed the ‘Uttama Certification’ in Hindi & ‘Kavya Certification’ in Sanskrit. Further he has completed ‘Shastri Certification’ from Sri Jain Vidyalaya, Morena, Madhya Pradesh. His mother tongue is Kannada & knows Sanskrit, Hindi, Tamil & English. He also has good knowledge with operating computers & its applications. After his studies he has spent considerable period with Sri Dhavalakeerthi Swamiji of Arihantagiri & has been well tranined in Jain Jyotishya, Vastu, Aradhana & conducting Panchakalyana Pratishta vidhis by Sri Swamiji. He is also well experienced in conducting many Jain aradhanas, vidhis & Panchakalyanas independently.
