Rs8.87 lakh theft at Jain temple in Botad

    Thieves targeted Jain derasar in Botad town of Bhavnagar district on Wednesday night and decamped with ornaments worth Rs 8.87 lakh.

    Rajkot (Gujarat), February 23, 2012: Thieves targeted Jain derasar in Botad town of Bhavnagar district on Wednesday night and decamped with ornaments worth Rs 8.87 lakh.

    According to police complaint filed by Nilesh Doshi, a resident of Kailashnagar in Botad town, the thieves took away gold, silver and diamond jewelry worth Rs 8.87 lakhs from the temple. They broke the locks and entered the area where jewellery were placed on idols.

    “We have registered a complaint against unidentified people and are investigating the case” said D P Vaghela, police inspector, Botad police station.

    Vaghela said that there were three watchmen at the temple but all of them were asleep when thieves struck. There were no CCTV cameras inside the temple. – News Courtesy: Times of India
