Jain Tirthankar Idols in a Shiva Temple at Dhadaki Village, Purulia, West Bengal

In Dhadaki village, located in the Poonch Subdivision of Purulia district, West Bengal, three Jain Tirthankar idols have been discovered within a Shiva temple.

One of the idols is of Tirthankar Adinath in Kayotsarga posture, accompanied by four other Tirthankars, forming a Panchatirthi composition. Another idol depicts Tirthankar Mahavir in Kayotsarga, flanked by carvings of the 24 Tirthankars (Chowbisi). The identity of the third Tirthankar idol remains unknown.

All the idols are in a dilapidated condition. Locally, they are referred to as Bhairav ji and are worshipped according to Hindu traditions, reflecting a syncretic cultural adaptation over time.
