Tumkur University to Organize Special Workshop on “Contribution of Jainism to Indian Culture”

    Workshop on "Contribution of Jainism to Indian Culture" - Resource Person H P Nitin

    Tumkur (Karnataka), July 1, 2026: The Department of Postgraduate Diploma in Jain Studies, Tumkur University, is organizing a two-day Special Workshop on the theme “Contribution of Jainism to Indian Culture” on 3rd and 4th July 2026.

    Mr. H. P. Nitin from Bengaluru, a noted Jain researcher, will serve as the resource person for this workshop. Mr. Nitin is the Founder and Executive Director of the Jain Heritage Centres website (www.jainheritagecentres.com) and is currently serving as the Director of Marketing Technology and Digital Marketing at Wipro.

    The inaugural session will be held on 3 July 2026 at 10:00 AM, under the chairmanship of Prof. S. Srinivas, Principal of the University Science College. The inaugural function will also be attended by Dr. M. Kotresh, Professor, Department of History and Archaeology, Tumkur University, and workshop resource person H. P. Nitin.

    The workshop will feature a series of expert lectures from Mr. Nitin highlighting the multifaceted contributions of Jainism to Indian civilization and culture. The major themes of the workshop include:

    Jain Paintings and Sculptural Traditions in India
    Distinctive Features of Jain Caves in India
    Jain Iconography and Special Architectural Structures
    Jain Temple Architecture and its Unique Characteristics

    The concluding session on 4 July 2026 will focus on the architectural traditions of Jain temples and their distinctive features, followed by the valedictory function.

    The workshop aims to create awareness about the profound contributions of Jainism to India’s art, architecture, sculpture, and cultural heritage.
