Mangalore (Karnataka), 12th October 2019: The Karnataka Postal Circle, Department of Posts & Communications. Govt. of India released picture postcards related to ten different ancient Jain idols and Basadis of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts on the occasion of KARNAPEX2019 at Mangalore. KARNAPEX is a four days state level philately exhibition being organized at Mangalore from 11th to 14th October 2019. The picture postcards were released by Justice N Santhosh Hegde. Sri Nerenki Parshwanath represented Jain community at the event.
It is indeed a very proud moment for Jains since 10 picture postcards related to Jainism are being released at once.
His Holiness SwastiSri Jagadguru Dr. Deevendrakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of Hombuja blessed and guided the team in this initiative.
Sri Mahavir Kundur, Hubli and Nitin H P, Bengaluru of www.jainheritagecentres.com spearheaded the efforts and were instrumental in getting this done.
Srj Nerenki Parshwanath, Chief General Manager, Mandovi Motors, Mangalore worked tirelessly in this initiative. Most of the photographs used in these postcards have been taken by Nerenki Parshwanath and a few are by Nitin H P.
Prof. S. P. Ajith Prasad, Moodabidri supported the initiative through his scholarly Knowledge on Jainism.
The team has thanked everyone who has worked and supported this initiative either directly or indirectly.
The efforts of Mahavir Kundur in this initiative deserves special mention.
